Troubleshooting for Common Garage Door Problems

Is your garage door not working properly? Troubleshooting a malfunctioning garage door is a common problem. It’s indeed frustrating and really a huge inconvenience. Fortunately, we have a few different solutions for common garage door problems. Use our troubleshooting guide to get to the root of the problem once and for all.

Garage Door Won’t Open:

If your garage door will not open at all, or if opens slightly and stops, chances are that the torsion spring (which is the main visible tube above the door) and the Torquemaster (which is inside the tube) may need to be inspected and possibly replaced. Do not use your automatic garage door opener if this occurs. In some cases, an uneven or faulty track can also cause this common garage door problem.

Garage Door Squeaks During Use:

Garage doors can make a squeaking sound when opening and closing. If this occurs, an A&L might need to be done to fix your garage door.

Garage Door Produces a Scraping Sound:

A scraping sound can be a sign of a serious problem, such as a frayed spring cable or worn pulley. We recommend scheduling a professional inspection. Attempting to inspect faulty cables, springs, or pulleys on your own may result in injury as these garage door components are under high tension.
